You can adjust them to fit your tower strategy. They’re important because of their unique attacks and abilities. They upgrade automatically, and you can only have one at a time. The colors still pop and every explosion, ice blast, aura, and character death, is eye candy.

It’s still a 2D top-down title, though, so it has some limitations. Units have unique decorations when you upgrade them and the animations are smooth. The visuals in this title are impressive. Most of the fun you’ll have involves tweaking these to create unique defensive setups. However, the upgrades make significant changes to how they work. The classic single-fire, spread shot, and elemental selections are still available. In this installment, there are new upgrade trees and towers.

It’s on you to formulate different strategies and a mix of alternating units to keep the mobs off of the finish line. Every level throws different enemies at you.
